It was a privilege to participate in Frame The Future, a poster competition put on by Friends of Residential Treasures LA. I also was afforded the chance to speak on a panel moderated by KCRW's DnA host Frances Anderton at events at the Wilshire Ebell Theater and the Downtown Los Angeles Public Library, truly an honor to speak on a subject that is near and dear to my heart.

The jury selected We’ve Got the Solutions. Let’s Build Them!  for its ability to combine optimism and urgency with a vision grounded in practical solutions already available to Los Angeles.

Rather than presenting the housing crisis as an impossible problem waiting for a breakthrough, Susoeff’s proposal changes the premise: many of the solutions already exist. What is needed now is the collective will to put them into action. The jury praised the project as “clear, compelling,” “aspirational yet grounded in credibility,” and a strong example of “vision meets practicality and community.”

Its manifesto brings the scale of the housing crisis back to the people affected by it: “We’re not talking about just numbers: we’re talking about people.” It also makes the case for urgency: “The cost of building is big—but the cost of doing nothing is bigger.” Its final call could hardly be simpler: “Let’s do this.”

Susoeff’s submission was also selected by the public as the Frame the Future! Audience Award winner, making it the choice of both the competition jury and the broader audience.
